When Should You Consult a Gynecologist?

It’s always been a good idea to make sure you’re regularly seeing a gynecologist. A gynecologist is typically a physician who specializes in female reproductive health and hygiene. They will monitor your health, take care of any abnormalities during an exam, and prescribe medication for any problems they find. Both preexisting conditions and the onset of new medical needs may be addressed by Phoenix gynecology.

A gynecologist can help you resolve your reproductive health concerns. They also can help you diagnose problems that may go undiagnosed, such as uterine fibroids, endometriosis, and ovarian cysts. These doctors also evaluate your health to determine if you are at risk for exposure to STDs.

Here are the main reasons why you should see a gynecologist.

    • You just had your first sexual relationship

You have just become sexually active. When you become sexually active, your gynecologist can detect any problems that could be harming your reproductive health. Be sure to keep an eye on any symptoms such as vaginal bleeding, rash, or itchy genitals. If you have taken birth control pills or have been infected with genital herpes or hepatitis, consult with your gynecologist.

    • You have constant menstrual pains

There are a number of causes of menstrual cramps, ranging from hormone imbalances to endometriosis. Your gynecologist will be able to assess the severity of your condition and provide you with remedies that could help.

    • You’ve noticed changes in your vaginal discharge

Changes in normal vaginal discharge can signify the presence of sexually transmitted diseases, such as chlamydia or gonorrhea. You could also be experiencing pre-cancerous conditions such as cervical cancer.

    • You have abnormal menstrual cycles

A number of problems could be causing irregular menstrual cycles. These can include hormone imbalance, an ectopic pregnancy, and endometriosis. Your gynecologist will determine the right course of action for you after a thorough examination.

    • You are planning to start a family

If you are planning to become pregnant, it is best to see your gynecologist. They will be able to tell you if there is anything that could interfere with your pregnancy. This might mean taking steps to stabilize your hormone levels.

    • You have experienced pain during sexual intercourse

This could be a symptom of sexually transmitted diseases or infections, urinary tract infections, or vaginal irritation. If you are experiencing discomfort during sexual intercourse, be sure to see your gynecologist.

    • You notice lumps in your breasts

Any lump that appears in your breasts, regardless of size or shape, is probably cause for concern. The most common causes of breast lumps are benign cysts, fibroadenoma, and cancer. You should see your gynecologist to determine if you need further medical examination.
