Can Your Website Pass Mobile First Indexing Test?

The importance of having a mobile-responsive, mobile-friendly website has increased as a result of Google’s mobile-first index.

There are steps you can do right now to ensure that your site ranks highly in the mobile-first index. For that, you must have either a dedicated mobile website or, better yet, a responsive website. If not, you should probably take care of that before working on mobile first indexing.

    What is Mobile-First Indexing?

What better person to explain Google’s mobile-first indexing than Google itself?

Google’s preference for indexing and ranking mobile-friendly content is known as “mobile-first indexing.” In the past, the index mostly used the desktop version of the website’s content for determining the relevancy of a page to a user’s query.

Because the majority of searches are made on mobile devices, Google caters to its user base by rewarding websites that provide a terrific experience.

    Test Your Website’s Mobile-Friendliness

You don’t need a mobile site to be in the mobile-first index because Google indexes both desktop and mobile sites. It will be more difficult to rank your site if it is not mobile-friendly. There is still work to be done for those of you who do not yet have a mobile-friendly site.

So, what are your mobile SEO options? Use Google’s mobile-friendliness test to verify if your website is mobile-friendly. This is a bare minimum. If your site fails this test, your mobile version isn’t ready.

    Navigations and Links

You are largely unconcerned about external links to your site. As long as your canonical tags are correct, your mobile sites should properly consolidate and be counted.

Expert mobile SEO services make sure that all of your vital internal links are still present on your mobile edition.

For example, breadcrumbs may have been omitted from a mobile site to save space. Some websites have a smaller mobile menu than their desktop navigation. These could have an impact on your rankings since they change how PageRank passes around your site.

Make Sure Googlebot Can Access Your Content

In general, Google will not be able to supply you with traffic or conversions if it is unable to access and read your website. Here are some helpful tips to create a mobile friendly website:

    • Use the same robots meta tag on your mobile and desktop sites.
    • In your robots.txt file, don’t lazy load user content that requires interaction.
    • Make sure your robots.txt file doesn’t prevent any pages from being crawled, as this can completely prevent your mobile site from being crawled.

    Summing It Up

Take some time to evaluate the mobile version of your website. Is the quality of your design up to par? Perform you believe you could do a better job? Is it possible to press the buttons with your finger? So, how’s it going with your content? Could you make your writing more readable on a smartphone?

You should begin by ensuring that your website provides an excellent mobile experience. Your rankings will be affected immediately as a result of this.
