Five Conditions You Can Receive Treatment For During Urgent Care

Your body will naturally go through abnormal changes that make you feel sick. Most illnesses, however, can easily resolve on their own within a few days. But if you notice no improvements in your conditions, you can schedule a Yakima WA urgent care to allow your doctor to address your symptoms. Urgent care can address various health conditions, including a common cold, fever, and infections. Your child can also benefit from urgent care if you notice unusual symptoms. The discussion below will explain five different health conditions you can experience and may require urgent care.

    Colds

You develop a common cold when you get a viral infection in your lungs and throat. While young children are more likely to develop frequent colds, you, as an adult, may have up to three colds every year. Your symptoms will begin within three days after exposure to a cold-causing virus and may include a runny nose, sore throat, congestion, and mild headache. You may also cough, sneeze, fever, and generally feel unwell.

    Fever

A fever develops when you have an infection which then causes your body temperature to rise. Body temperature may vary from one person to the other depending on the time of the day, but higher than normal temperatures mean a fever. Fever may also be accompanied by other symptoms, including sweating, shivering, muscle aches, loss of appetite, dehydration, and general weakness. You can call your doctor if you have concerns about your baby’s fever.

    Cough

Your body naturally removes irritants from your throat and lungs through a cough to protect and heal itself. Anyone can develop a cough, but you are more likely to develop a cough when you smoke, have chronic illnesses, and have allergies. Your doctor will treat the cough during urgent care, depending on the cause. You can also drink water to help ease irritation and dryness.

    Ear Infection

Your middle ear can develop an infection, and the symptoms are usually rapid. Since ear infections are common in children, your child may have ear pain, fussiness, trouble hearing, loss of balance, and fluid drainage from the ear. Your child may also have headaches, tugs at an ear, and a high fever. Similar symptoms may also develop in adults. Most ear infections will clear up independently, but you can seek treatment if you need help managing the pain.

    Urinary Tract Infection

UTI affects any part of your urinary system and may mostly involve the lower urinary tract. When UTI lies within your bladder, you may experience pain, but health complications can occur if the infection spreads to your kidneys. Usually, you may not develop any symptoms with UTI, but when they do, you may experience a strong urge to urinate and urinate often. You may also feel a burning sensation during urination and strong-smelling urine.

Urgent care is a medical option when symptoms fail to improve within a few days after their onset. Urgent care differs from emergency care because the latter addresses life-threatening health complications. Your doctor can recommend urgent care for you and your child if you are concerned about their symptoms and wish for relief. Talk to your doctor about your ongoing symptoms and if you will make a good candidate for urgent care. You can also ask about other conditions your doctor can treat with urgent care.
