The amount of hair that falls out daily varies from person to person and depends on many factors, including your age, gender, diet, hormonal levels, stress level, medications you are taking, and the environment where you live. However, most people lose between 100-150 strands per day. This can be very frustrating for those who have lost more than this amount.

The average number of hairs lost each day has been estimated at about 150. As long as it’s not excessive, there’s no reason to worry.

Hair loss may occur because of medical conditions or other causes. If you notice any changes in your scalp, consult your doctor.

    What Causes Hair Loss?

There are several different reasons why some people experience hair loss. The two main types of hair loss are male pattern baldness and female pattern baldness.

Male Pattern Baldness: Male pattern baldness affects men with receding hairlines and thinning hair. It usually begins around the temples and then spreads down the sides of the head. Men with male pattern baldness usually have increased hair density at the back of their heads.

Female Pattern Baldness: Female pattern baldness is also called “female androgenetic alopecia.” Women with female pattern baldness often start losing their hair before they reach 40 years old. They typically begin by losing small amounts of hair from the crown area of their head. Over time, these areas become progressively thinner until all of the hair is gone.

Other Causes Of Hair Loss: Other causes include:

    • Alopecia Areata – This condition occurs when the immune system attacks the hair follicles. There is no known cause.
    • Lichen Planus – This condition results in inflammation of the skin. The scalp is commonly affected.
    • Seborrheic Dermatitis – This condition causes red patches on the scalp and face. It is caused by an overgrowth of bacteria.
    • Trichotillomania – This disorder involves pulling out one’s own hair. People with trichotillomania pull out their hair by hand or pluck it off using tweezers.
    • Vitiligo – This condition causes white spots on the skin. Some people with vitiligo develop patches of hair loss.
    • Acne – This condition causes blackheads and pimples on the face and scalp. These blemishes may lead to hair loss.
    • Psoriasis – This condition causes scaly patches on the scalp.
    • Anemia – This condition reduces blood flow to the scalp.
    • Hypothyroidism – This condition causes slow growth of hair.
    • Hyperthyroidism – This condition increases thyroid activity which leads to hair loss.

    Symptoms Of Hair Loss

If you’re experiencing hair loss, you’ll probably notice one or more of the following symptoms:

    • Thinning hair
    • Hair falling out
    • Increased shedding
    • Red patches on the scalp
    • Brittle hair
    • Scalp itching
    • Skin irritation
    • Dry skin
    • Painful scalp

    Treatment For Hair Loss

There are a variety of treatments available for hair loss. Your doctor will recommend the best treatment based on your specific situation.

    Medications

Several medications are used to treat hair loss. Doctors prescribe them for both men and women. In general, medications work by slowing down the rate of hair loss. However, there are side effects associated with many of these drugs. Talk to your doctor about what medication might be right for you.

    Hair Transplants

A hair transplant is another option for treating hair loss. During this procedure, doctors remove hair from the back of the head (donor site) and move it to the front part of the head (recipient site). The number of hairs transplanted depends on how much hair remains at the donor site.

    Surgery

A surgical procedure can help restore hair that has been lost due to medical conditions or trauma. Surgery can be performed to increase the size of existing hair or to add new hair.

    Procedures To Increase Hair Growth

The most common way to stimulate hair growth is through the use of minoxidil. Minoxidil works by increasing circulation to the scalp. As a result, the body produces more hair cells. It is the method that is recommended by various experts in this field. You can check out more about the same at one of the best digital healthcare platforms named Numan, which can be your go-destination for taking guidance regarding minoxidil as the treatment for your hair loss problem.

Another method of stimulating hair growth is through the implantation of miniaturized devices called hair follicle stimulators. These devices contain microscopic electrodes that send electrical signals into the scalp. They also have tiny reservoirs that release medicine directly into the scalp.

Other techniques include laser therapy and platelet-rich plasma injections. Laser therapy uses light energy to destroy hair follicles. Platelet-rich plasma injections involve injecting your doctor with blood containing proteins that promote cell division.

How Do I Know If My Hair Is Healthy?

Your hair health can be determined by looking closely at its appearance. When examining your hair, look for signs of damage such as split ends, dryness, or breakage. You should also check for dandruff and other problems like lice or ingrown hairs.
