Normally, your immune system works hard to keep your body healthy by threatening harmful bacteria and viruses. However, there are instances where the immune system can see these substances as a threat even if they cause no harm. During the attack, your body produces immunoglobulin antibodies that lead to an allergic reaction. Several cases of Houston allergic reaction are becoming popular due to issues like consuming some food, medications, and bee sting. Here is a complete guide to the common substances that cause allergic reactions.

    Pollen

Since pollen is abundant, it is one of the inevitable allergens. In most cases, pollen is produced from several plants, such as flowers, grasses, and weeds. It has a light, fluffy texture that makes it easy to move via the air and latch to different surfaces. Trying to abstain from being outdoors for a long period can only be the most effective strategy to avoid pollen. Being prone to pollen can lead to symptoms like sneezing, coughing, nasal congestion, wheezing and runny nose if you suffer from allergies.

    Dust Mites

Dust mites are one of the unavoidable allergens that are popular indoor allergens. Dust mites are microscopic, meaning it is hard to notice them on most surfaces. It tends to clasp on clothing surfaces like drapery, bedding, stuffed animals, furniture, and carpet. To mitigate them, you should stay in a dust-free environment. Changing your bedding, dusting, and vacuuming the carpet weekly can help in reducing the chances of having allergic reactions.

    Certain Foods

Some foods are widely known to cause allergic reactions. For example, dairy products, peanuts, and seafood are common food allergies. Since these foods are popular nowadays, you may turn to traditional recipes. If you have an allergy to some food, reactions will show up after a few minutes after eating the food. Common signs and symptoms include swelling, breathing difficulties, vomiting, nausea, and low blood pressure. Avoiding these foods is the best mechanism to prevent these allergic reactions and find alternatives if possible.

    Bee Stings

Some people are afraid of bees, especially those who have an allergic reaction to the sting. The venom that an insect develops when they sting you can lead to an allergic reaction. Unlike other allergens, a bee sting can be dangerous in its results. Instead of causing low-risk symptoms, bee stings can lead to severe reactions. Common red flags include breathing difficulties, low blood pressure, and swelling in the face, throat, and tongue. You should seek medical attention immediately if you experience allergic reactions after being stung.

    Molds

Molds are similar to dust mites and pollens in causing allergies. Nevertheless, mold flourishes in water and other forms of moisture. As a result, these allergies are more common in moisture-prone areas like basements, bathrooms, and laundry areas. To avoid them, you should prevent air constriction and ensure your house has proper ventilation to mitigate the development of these molds.

Consuming certain food and being exposed to pollen and moisture can be the foundation of your allergic reactions. Besides, some insect stings can also lead to these reactions. Therefore, if you experience an abnormal body reaction after eating or touching something, talk to your healthcare provider to confirm if you are allergic. Sometimes your doctor can recommend medications like fexofenadine, cetirizine, and desloratadine or suggest you avoid these substances completely.
